RAGBRAI 2010 Here We Come...

The 2010 cycling season is upon us. Well, as soon as the temps consistently get above 40 and it stops snowing anyway. But we’re optimistic that’ll happen soon. With a new riding season comes our annual gathering of family and friends to register for RAGBRAI. We’re excited to have a team of 10 people this year! Woo hoo! We are bringing back some veteran riders and welcoming some new ones. While we’re still working on handles for the newbies, here’s our crew this year:
• Kristin – Oink
• Karla – Moo
• Lowell – Geezer (aka Kristin and Karla’s Dad)
• Judy – Queen Judy (aka Kristin and Karla’s Mom)
• Kim – Slev (a friend of Geezer’s)
• Ken – Dillo (Karla’s father-in-law)
• Kiran (a fellow Iowa alum and current Chicago area resident)
• Jamie (a fellow Iowa alum and current Denver resident)
• Doug (a fellow Iowa alum and current Denver resident)
• Thatch (a friend of Doug’s whom we’ve never actually met, but we’re sure he’s nice and likes Iowa)

There are two people who may be mentioned occasionally, so we’ll list them to show they’re not forgotten.
• Matt – Lonestar (Karla’s husband). Lonestar is not joining us for RAGBRAI this year, but promises to wear his padded shorts to work every day during the week of RAGBRAI to show his support.
• Jeff – Weenie/Bologna (name change still under consideration). Weenie/Bologna has yet to declare if he’s riding RAGBRAI this year, but we anticipate him making a decision by July 15th.

We do have some training rides planned before July, so the chances that we’ll actually be in shape and properly trained for RAGBRAI are higher than last year. But we’re not making any promises…

Upcoming rides include Austin to Shiner Century in Texas (Karla, Ken, Lowell and Matt), Udder Ride in Illinois (Kristin, Karla, Matt and Kiran) and the Horribly Hilly Hellish Hundred (we added the Hellish, but it really should be named this) in Wisconsin (Kristin, Kiran and Jeff).

Until next blog…
Oink and Moo
